On April 13, 2024, Southern Eagle Squadron hosted a fun-fly event for members and their families and guests. The thrill of competition, food, and of course, friends created a lure that was hard to resist. Over 50 people attended and joined in the fun.
COMPETITION consisted of:
- Spot Landing Event – Whoever lands closest to the designated spot without taxiing.
- Loop Event – How many “loop-de-loops” a pilot can perform in one minute (harder than you think in high winds)
- Limbo Event – Fly under the banner and whoever is still flying, wins
- Balloon Break Event – Multiple aircraft in the air trying to break helium filled balloons that were release one at a time
Adding to the ‘pucker factor” was a STRONG steady cross-wind of 8-10mph gusting to 15

The helicopter ‘squadron’ were showing their wares and conducted flight operations to the delight of the spectators

Food is the ingredient that binds us together and our Spring Fun-Fly did not disappoint. SES members sure know how to eat, and that cornbread pudding was to die for!
